Power Word 2020
Hey everyone! I don't know about you guys but my year has started out crazy as heck! We've been super busy as a family and I personally needed a break. So, the last two weeks I treated myself to some "Tana Time" as my family calls it and pampered myself a bit. But, this week I'm back to work and ready to share my goals for this year!
Honestly, I was hoping to release this post as a video blog but that will come later this year. And, if I'm honest again, I kind of wanted to wait until the end of January to share my power word since social media can be a little overwhelmed by new year goals come the first of the year. Don't get me wrong! I love to see people pumped up and ready to take on the new year, I just know it can be a bit monotonous reading the same thing over and over.
So, on to my power word. Before I reveal it (Oooo), let me get to why I chose to use a power word instead of say, goals or resolutions. I've made New Year's resolutions before, have you? Did you stick with them? Cause I sure didn't. As much as I love lists and checklists and well any form of organizing your thoughts, goals are hard for me. I have a hard time with figuring out a timeline, and at this point in my life I kind of have to go with the flow most of the time. It's frustrating. But, last year I kept seeing people talk about a power word or phrase that they lived by for the year. Now that, is definitely doable. How easy is it to just make a little reminder, or a post-it note or a pretty doodle and reflect on it all year? A power word allows you to empower yourself on a scale you're comfortable with too. Sounds a bit lazy, but there's a reason that people fall off of goals that require you to go cold-turkey right off the bat.
On to my power word. I chose Potential. Seems a little aggressive I know, but as I sat down and started to write out my goals for the year I kept coming back to the Potential I had in each area of my life. I thought about coming up with a phrase that best supported all of my goals, but honestly they are so widespread and different that I just couldn't do it. But, it's easy for me to reflect on the word Potential. Did I reach my Potential this week? Am I working towards my Potential in this aspect of my life? It's right there at the front of my brain and it has really helped light the way for my goals already this year.
So! My challenge to you is to find your power word for 2020. Put it somewhere where you will read it everyday, tell your friends and family, tell me! Reflect on it and let it empower your choices this year. I'm ready to hear about your success!
